Brandon "Brannu" Fulton was born and raised in the tough streets of Brownsville, Brooklyn, one of New York City’s most violent and impoverished neighborhoods. Surrounded by drugs and crime, Brandon’s early life was anything but easy. Raised in a household full of women, he found solace in horseback riding outings with his grandfather, where a love for horses was born. His father, a street hustler, was in and out of prison throughout Brandon’s childhood, leaving a void that would later be filled by his passion for music and animals.
Brandon’s path to self-discovery began when he met hip hop icon Biz Markie at 8 years old. Biz dubbed him "DJ Brannu", the moniker Brandon used to launch his DJ career in high school. Eventually, he relocated to Atlanta to attend Clark Atlanta University. There, Brandon sharpened his DJ skills from his dorm room and started making a name for himself at college parties. His determination led him to collaborate with notable artists like Akon, Da Brat and J-Kwon, touring and expanding his reach in the music scene. Yet, despite his rising success, Brandon felt a pull back to the world of horses, leading him to make a life-changing decision to step away from music and embrace rural life as a full-time horseman.
Embodying the spirit of the "Urban Cowboy," Brandon began living off the grid, training and caring for horses in metro Atlanta. His presence at community events offering riding lessons made him a well-known figure. His work with horses eventually opened doors in the film and television industry, where he became a stunt coordinator. This success allowed him to purchase nearly 30 acres in Fulton County. However, his journey took a difficult turn when legal troubles arose after his arrest for alleged animal abuse—charges that were later dropped. Despite never being prosecuted, the county kept his seven prized horses, prompting an ongoing lawsuit. Today, while still facing ongoing legal battles, Brandon remains committed to his rural lifestyle, continuing to fight for justice and maintain his land and legacy.
